5 ways to implement a learning management system
This article talks about introducing teachers to a new system, training them on how to use it and then helping them expand their knowledge of how to use it on an ongoing basis. Anytime you implement a district-wide solution such as an LMS, there has to be some amount of top-down support. From a professional development standpoint, the integration of Google and the LMS helps break down a lot of barriers with teachers that were Google Classroom holdouts. It’s not enough to give teachers access to a new technology platform and then expect them to pick it up and start using it. Take field trips to see other teachers in action and using the LMS. This helps instructors envision how they could use the platform with their own students. Leverage the power of video, because it basically gives teachers a tour of a classroom where the LMS is being used. Read more: http://bit.ly/2Ej25Su

He said the syllabus would cover production, artistes, management, marketing, distribution, visuals and anything related to the business of music. Mhako said the arts sector in Zimbabwe was shrinking, resulting in the dearth of knowledge and skills among artistes and those that manage them. “Our [local arts] industry suffers from stunted growth and we have a handful of artistes who have managed to create viable business models around their music,” Mhako said. Learning management systems are making it easier for teachers to help students evaluate their own learning progress. Teachers have the option of sharing reports with their students on a course-by-course basis. "It is critical to give students, especially those in higher education, feedback on their progress and achievements so they can make pro-active choices in their own learning. A lack of feedback means there is little actionable insight for students to achieve their goals," said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning. Learning Theories: Supporting A New Model For The LMS
A Learning Management System (LMS) is an eLearning platform that supports the creation and distribution of online courses to learners (Ouadoud, Chkouri, & Nejjari, 2018). Typically, these eLearning platforms are feature-heavy and are designed to provide tools to course creators/teachers, and provide less of these same resources to students/learners. Researchers Mohammed Ouadoud, Mohamed Yassin Chkouri, and Amel Nejjari (2018) propose a new conceptual model for LMS building. These researchers believe that the LMS should be constructed based on traditional pedagogy, behaviorism, cognitivism, and social constructivism–and should stress the importance of usability, security, portability, sustainability, cross-device and cross-system compatibility. Pressure on LMS Companies to Provide Quality PD
When language arts teacher Susie Weetman was taught how to use her district's new learning management system, her biggest hurdle wasn't figuring out how to master all the platform's features, according to in article in Education Week. It was picking and choosing the ones she needed most. The new LMS offered "so much functionality," recalled Ms. Weetman, who works in the Gwinnett County, Ga., school system. "In the beginning, it was kind of like jumping into the deep end and not knowing how to swim. But in a way, that's kind of like teaching." The third-year educator's experience last school year paralleled those of teachers and administrators across the country who've gone through professional development meant to introduce them to learning management systems, which have become commonplace in schools. For many teachers and administrators, the trick is to grasp which LMS tools have the greatest potential to meet the needs of their individual students and classrooms, while also acquiring the skills to juggle myriad academic and managerial duties.
